Dr. Louis V. Haynes

Dr. Louis V. Haynes is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and the Founder and Executive Director of Arcus Behavioral Health and Wellness, a nonprofit organization dedicated to making high-quality mental health services accessible to underserved communities. With a specialization in therapeutic assessment for psychological testing, Dr. Haynes focuses on helping clients identify and address aspects of their personality and behavior that may be obstructing their path to greater well-being and a higher quality of life. His expertise allows clients to gain self-awareness and create meaningful change in their lives.
Dr. Haynes earned his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) and a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Adler University, along with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor in Sociology from the University of Tampa. He is nationally certified as a Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapist, equipping him to help clients navigate complex emotional and psychological challenges.
In his clinical work, Dr. Haynes is committed to supporting LGBTQ+ individuals and families, especially those who also identify as ethnic or cultural minorities and face the complexities of intersectionality. His approach is rooted in social justice, ensuring that mental health care is inclusive, culturally sensitive, and accessible to all.
As the leader of Arcus Behavioral Health and Wellness, Dr. Haynes is driven by the belief that mental health should be more than just the absence of illness. His vision is to move beyond the pathology-focused model to one that enhances well-being and empowers individuals to live fuller, more satisfying lives. Through his leadership, Arcus continues to provide transformative care to marginalized populations across Chicago and beyond.
